Measure, measure, cut

Staining pine is damn tough

Using an orbit sander left these little curly-q shapes in the surface of the board, which show in the final stain

It could be a stylistic decision to leave artifacts like these in.

Waited 24 hours to apply top-coat, approximately 7:30 PM

Varnishing with semi-gloss. Unfortunately did not remember a varnishing pad, so I'm using a paintbrush instead

It seems like some of the stain is coming up as well -- I would do two light coats of the stain next time.
